It’s getting too close for comfort for Blue Jays fans, with the New York Yankees creeping closer and closer.
Toronto lost 4-1 to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. It looked like the Chicago White Sox were going to lend a helping hand but the Yankees, who were down to their last strike trailing 2-1 in the ninth inning with a runner at third, scored on a wild pitch that tied the game and later won 3-2 on a José Caballero walk-off single .
While Toronto still controls its own fate — the Jays are up a game on the Yankees in the AL East standings with five left to play and has the tiebreaker over New York — the ride to a division title will be a bumpy one .
