NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An emergency repair was underway on a water main leak in the French Quarter on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Around 2:30 p.m., One More Pie manager Yancy Theodore said he heard shouts from construction workers on the 1100 block of Decatur Street.
Just moments after, he heard a loud pop and saw water spilling onto the front porches of his and his neighbor's business.
"I heard someone yelling, 'hey, hey, wait, wait, wait,' and then water just gushing everywhere," Theodore said.
A water main had broken, so the construction crew quickly opened up a fire hydrant to release the pressure on the pipe.
While many businesses on Decatur were not affected by it, Theodore says his water pressure dropped significantly.
"Honestly I was really worried. I was really concerned if it was safe
