SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have guaranteed themselves a postseason slot, besting the Colorado Rockies Tuesday night.
Seattle (88-69) won 4-3 at T-Mobile Park, with the most heart-racing moment coming at the bottom of the 8th inning when Mariners' Josh Naylor drove in three runs to take the lead.
The Mariners won for the 15th time in 16 games to secure the team's second postseason appearance since 2001.
With the win, Seattle has secured at minimum a wildcard spot in the postseason. However, the division-leading Mariners could further lock up the American League West title on Wednesday, the first time since 2001. Any further combination of Mariners wins and Houston Astros losses adding up to two would secure the club’s first AL West crown since 2001.
