Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has openly endorsed Andrew Hastie as a future leader of the Liberal Party, sharpening the internal struggle over Sussan Ley’s authority.

The Northern Territory Senator, recently dumped from the shadow frontbench, spoke candidly about her views on Mr Hastie's Liberal Party critics.

“I think they probably see him as some kind of threat, because he is so good at what he does,” she told 2GB.

“He’s so good at the job he does which is representing Australians, and I think a lot of them should get on with doing that themselves instead of focusing on what Andrew is doing.”

The comments follow a bruising fortnight for the opposition, with Hastie clashing with colleagues after releasing a slick video of himself promoting a revival of Australian manufacturing.
