Construction Near LAX Pushes Wildlife Into Neighborhood
Coyotes are increasingly roaming the streets of Playa del Rey, alarming residents who say the animals have become bolder and more aggressive since construction began on a new youth center near Los Angeles International Airport, as reported by Fox 11 News.
For years, coyote sightings in the coastal neighborhood were rare. Now, encounters are so common that residents report seeing them at all hours of the day, often near schools and apartment complexes. Playa del Rey is one of a few Westside neighborhoods that have reported upticks in coyote sightings and activity
The change coincides with development at Lulu’s Place, a youth sports and education facility being built across from a field that previously served as the coyotes’ habitat.
