SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. – A Seattle couple and their young daughters were rescued south of Snoqualmie with help from Kittitas and Spokane County search and rescue volunteers.

The rescue occurred on the Mt. Catherine trail after the mother, Margaret, injured her ankle on Sunday, September 21.

Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with local Search & Rescue volunteers, responded to the call for help. They were joined by nine Spokane County Search and Rescue volunteers who happened to be training nearby.

The rescue team used a wheeled litter to transport Margaret and assisted her husband in carrying their daughters, aged three months and two years, down the steep trail.

The family was able to drive themselves for medical care.
