Nearly 85,000 Bags Sold Under Kroger Brands Pulled From Stores

Nearly 85,000 bags of frozen shrimp sold under Kroger and AquaStar brands are being recalled nationwide due to potential contamination with cesium-137 (Cs-137), a manmade radioactive isotope, federal officials announced on Sunday.

AquaStar (USA) Corp., based in Seattle, initiated the recall after concerns that the shrimp may have been processed under unsanitary conditions, possibly allowing contamination to occur. As noted in the FDA statement issued on 8/19/25: “At this time, no product that has tested positive or alerted for Cesium-137 (Cs-137) has entered the U.S. commerce.”

The recall affects:

49,920 bags of Kroger Raw Colossal EZ Peel Shrimp (2 lb.)

18,000 bags of Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off
