BRANDON — A 16-year-old male has been charged with two additional counts of attempted murder after more victims were confirmed in relation to a sword attack at a high school in June.

The teen was originally charged with one count of attempted murder, after a fellow student was slashed, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

The Crown attorney recently upgraded the assault-with-a-weapon charges to attempted murder in connection to two other victims, Crown attorney Jennifer Comack told the Brandon Sun in an email Tuesday.

“It is our position that we have a reasonable likelihood of conviction and that it is in the public interest to proceed on the charges of attempt murder for all three victims,” she said.
