It was a lightning strike that killed the two Albemarle County natives who went missing the in Colorado backcountry last week before their bodies were found last Thursday, according to the man who examined their remains.
”It was immediate,” Cornejos County coroner Richard Martin told The Daily Progress. “They were standing there visiting, and then they were not.”

Martin said that the absence of trauma to the bodies indicates that the bolt of lighting did not strike Andrew Porter or Ian Stasko, both 25, directly.
”I don’t know if it hit the tree or hit the ground,” said Martin. “I wasn’t on the scene, and the scene photos don’t tell me anything.”
