Shocking images show the aftermath of a crash on the A1 near Tranent on Wednesday morning in which a car flipped onto its roof.

The incident occurred at around 7.28am on Wednesday, September 24, and motorists have been asked to approach with caution. Rush-hour delays were reported.

Traffic Scotland took to social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), to warn road users that all northbound traffic on the A1 at the Bankton Junction in Tranent.

They said: "The A1 N/B after the Bankton junction is restricted due to a road traffic incident. Lane 1 is currently closed. Approx. 15 minute delays currently.

"Approach with caution and give extra travel time."

One lane was restricted and delays of approximately 15 minutes were to be expected. It was unclear if there were any injuries.
