LCD TVs and LED TVs have both been on the market for a long time. TV-sized LCDs gained popularity in the mid-2000s, while LED TVs followed a few years later. The marketing departments for many companies, most notably Samsung , have blurred the meaning behind these names.

LCD TVs and LED TVs are based on the same technology. For the most part, all modern LCDs are LEDs and vice versa. However, the differences are interesting and worth investigating.
