NEW BEDFORD — For over 70 years, the Miss New Bedford scholarship organization has awarded more than $220,000 in college scholarships to area women.

This year, nineteen women from Greater New Bedford will be competing for the titles of Miss New Bedford and Miss New Bedford Teen on Saturday, Oct. 4.

With a total of $7,500 in educational scholarships to be awarded this year, the Miss New Bedford Pageant will crown its 72nd winner and the 15th Miss New Bedford's Teen.
