The News-Record & Sentinel spoke to Marshall Mayor Aaron Haynie on Sept. 11 about Tropical Storm Helene and the recovery effort. Haynie, a Marshall native, also spoke about his many memories in the Rollins neighborhood where his great-grandmother lived. The neighborhood was one of the hardest-hit areas in the floods.

News-Record : When looking back, what stands out to you about the response from the town and volunteers. What are you most proud of?
Aaron Haynie : I can't go on any more about how proud I am of everybody. When they could have held their heads down, during all the devastation of what Helene brought, they actually picked themselves up and they got to work, and didn't let that knock them down. I couldn't be
