President Donald Trump, who believed he was close to ending the Ukraine-Russia war, seems to have done a surprising about-turn and is backing Ukraine and Nato countries to take on Moscow militarily. The US President said that Ukraine "can win back" territories taken over by Russia , after asserting that Nato countries should shoot down Russian jets that venture into their airspace . This is the first time since taking over as President that Trump has spoken about Ukraine retaking land from Russian control. He has been suggesting that Kyiv needed to cede some territory for an agreement with Moscow.

"Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
