Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s legal bill for her high-stakes congressional hearing on sanctuary cities last March has increased by $100,000, to bring the city’s total expected spending on the matter to a whopping $750,000.

The city had disclosed ahead of the mayor’s testimony that it expected to pay up to $650,000 in taxpayer funds to prepare for the Washington, D.C. hearing, but never told the public that costs ultimately increased by $100,000.

The additional spending is detailed in an amendment to a contract the city previously entered into with the law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel that was obtained by the Herald. The contract’s end date is listed as this past June 30.
