Blaine County’s sheriff has defended the use of K-9 units within Ketchum’s city limits as complaints arise and deployments decrease.

Ketchum City Council members have debated the city’s contract with the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office in public hearings over the past few months, with councilmen Tripp Hutchinson and Spencer Cordovano raising concerns over the frequent use of K-9 units within city limits.

Complaints have extended beyond the Ketchum City Council. Sheriff Morgan Ballis said that he has also fielded complaints from citizens.
