Last week TSN (The Sports Network) reported : “Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette (PCL) done for regular season.” Why PCL — provisions for credit losses — would knock the Blue Jays’ shortstop out of the lineup I do not know and the story did not explain. I do know that in recent quarters higher PCL has negatively impacted banks’ EPS (earnings per share) and ROE (return on equity), although higher PCL does not factor into their PPPT (pre-provision pre-tax income) and should certainly have no effect on the ability of shortstops to play baseball.
