NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WFSB) - Construction is underway on a new Amazon warehouse near the Waterbury–Naugatuck line, but neighbors say the noise is already too much.
People living nearby told city leaders Tuesday night that daily blasting and heavy equipment are rattling their homes and making everyday life difficult.
“I can hear the equipment most of the day,” said neighbor Bill Lawrence. “And 4:33 every afternoon is a blast. So my house rumbles.”
The warehouse is expected to open in 2027 and bring around 1,000 jobs to the area. But some residents say the short-term impact is frustrating and even feels unsafe.
Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski said he understands those concerns, but asked residents to consider the bigger picture.
