WARRICK COUNTY, Ind (WEHT) - A child in Warrick County was killed Tuesday afternoon after the child was hit by a semi.

Authorities are calling the accident tragic. Warrick County Sheriff Mike Wilder says this happened near State Road 66 and Sharon Road.

The victim's name has not yet been released, but Sheriff Wilder says she was middle school age.

The investigation is still ongoing, but authorities state they don't believe the semi driver was impaired.

"There's really nothing right now that makes us believe this," Wilder says. "We do have some witnesses from the scene. We just believe this was a very bad and unfortunate circumstance where maybe the child didn't see the traffic coming, but we will piece that all together through the investigation."
