The Carey Panthers offense heeded head coach John Saili’s challenge to rise to the occasion.
“We’ve got to play Carey football,” said Panthers senior running back Stockton Sears. “We’ve got to block our hearts out. Our running backs are going to follow the blocks and get to the end zone.”
One week after setting a school record with 397 yards rushing against Castleford, Sears added 204 yards on nine carries as the Panthers ran past the Richfield Tigers 50-6 in Idaho Class 1A Sawtooth Conference football action on Friday at Carey High School in the Panthers’ homecoming contest.
“Once we cleaned it up and got everybody locked in, we played lights out,” Saili said. “It was fun. Our run game was there.”
