Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to participate in an online auction of mementos and gifts he has received. The auction, which began on September 17, coinciding with his 75th birthday, will run until October 2. The proceeds from this auction will support the Namami Gange project, aimed at rejuvenating and conserving the Ganga river.

In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "The auction includes very interesting works which illustrate the culture and creativity of India." He encouraged everyone to take part in this initiative. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat noted that over 1,300 items are available for bidding, including paintings, sculptures, and sports memorabilia, particularly from para-athletes who participated in the Paris Paralympics 2024.

The auction items can be viewed and bid on through the official PM Mementos portal, which requires users to register. This initiative is part of the ongoing 'Seva Pakhwada', a period dedicated to public service. The Namami Gange project, launched in June 2014, has a budget of ₹20,000 crore and focuses on pollution abatement and the conservation of the Ganga.

Since the first auction in January 2019, the initiative has raised over ₹50 crore for the Namami Gange project, showcasing the generosity of the public and the cultural richness of India.
