Ever wonder why Savannah's public schools have the names they do? Or the story behind who certain schools are named after?

The Savannah-Chatham Public School Systems' Massie Heritage Center has built an online exhibit that, according to the district's press release, "culls information from a wide variety of sources and includes photos of each individual."

Now, curious community members can easily research historical figures such as Solomon C. Johnson, Alfred Ely Beach, Esther F. Garrison and Andrea B. Williams as well as dozens more.

The exhibition, titled “In Their Honor: Savannah Schools Named After Notable Individuals” has been made as a resource for researchers as much as for anyone who simply wants to learn more. The exhibition can be accessed via massie.sccpss.com/exhibitions
