Late night host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel returned to the airways on Tuesday night, ending a brief suspension that began after his show last Tuesday. The Jimmy Kimmel show was "suspended indefinitely" by the network following the host's criticism on the response to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and comments on President Donald Trump.
A frenzy followed that involved Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr, Nexstar Media Group, Sinclair and free speech activists. Monday, ABC announced Kimmel and his show would be returning. His opening monologue was highly anticipated, and it didn't disappoint.
"I’m not sure who had a weirder 48 hours, me or the CEO of Tylenol," Kimmel said after coming out to raucous applause.
Kimmel did address the Kirk killing, saying, "You understand it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it."

The late night host didn't return to every television set, however, as Nexstar and Sinclair decided not to put Kimmel back on the air. The two media groups account for over 50 ABC affiliates.
Kimmel was joined by actor Glen Powell (Chad Powers) and singer Sarah MacLachlan for the show.
