CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The dispute over secret grand jury testimony in the downtown Cincinnati brawl case returns to court Wednesday as most of the suspects appear for a pretrial hearing.
The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office went to the appeals court earlier this month to block a transcript of the grand jury testimony from being released.
One of the suspects’ attorneys, Clyde Bennett II, filed a motion last month seeking it and said he needed it to properly represent Dekyra Vernon, 24, of Evanston.
He alleges this case is fueled by race and politics, and wants the charges dropped
So, the judge who handled the suspects’ arraignment, Alan Triggs, signed an Aug. 28 entry “ordering release of grand jury transcript,” a copy of it shows.
