BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Good morning!

Showers and a few storms have been in progress this morning in the northwest corner of the state. Heavy rain, a few strong gusts of wind, and lightning have been the main concerns. Those will gradually move southeast and fizzle out by mid-morning.

NEXT 24 HOURS: A First Alert Weather Day has been called for the remainder of the day for the threat of another round of strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening.

STORM IMPACTS: The main line of storms moves in from the west after lunch and into the evening commute and could last through midnight into east Alabama. The main concern will come from damaging winds and locally heavy downpours.
