GRAND FORKS — When UND President Andrew Armacost wakes up, usually at 5 a.m. but sometimes earlier depending on his schedule, he starts the day with emails.

Breakfast varies. On Friday, Sept. 19, he chose to make eggs before going to a breakfast event, knowing he would be too busy talking to eat. He figured he would probably just grab a cup of coffee.

“Just sunny side up,” he said. “Just a light breakfast, not so exciting.”

On a day like Sept. 19 — a day with multiple speaking events — Armacost sits at the breakfast table writing speeches. He tries not to be overly prepared, so he usually writes three or four lines from which to draw.
