LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Longtime Jefferson County Sheriff John Aubrey has died at the age of 86.
First elected in 1998, John Aubrey was in office for seven terms and had planned out the remaining 21 months of his current term. He announced in March he would not seek another term.
Aubrey retired from the Louisville Police Department in December 1990 as acting chief with the rank of colonel after more than 28 years with the department. He also spent 32 years as a member of the Army Reserve.
