SpaceX launched NASA’s IMAP mission from Florida's Space Coast on Wednesday morning.

The launch happened at 7:30 a.m. from the Kennedy Space Center.

A Falcon 9 rocket launched IMAP into a transfer orbit that will take it to the Earth-Sun L1 Lagrange Point, according to SpaceX.

IMAP will explore how the heliosphere interacts with its nearby galactic environment and will help provide real-time observations of the solar wind and energetic particles.
