PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) -- A man accused of abducting a child then firing shots and barricading himself in his Philadelphia home was arrested on Tuesday.

The 8-year-old girl involved in the incident is safe with her mother as Philadelphia's Special Victims Unit continues the investigation.

Witnesses say the girl was playing outside with other neighborhood children when a 44-year-old man brought her into his home on the 5900 block of North 20th Street.

"When she went up to the door, he pulled her in there by the arm and locked the door," Nyliah Briggs said on Action News at 10 on PHL17. Briggs said she is the victim's aunt. "I'm still in shock."

Briggs said her sister, the mother of the young girl, attempted to save her daughter spaying the man with mace before he ultimately locked the door
