The National Weather Service issued a report at 8:42 a.m. on Wednesday for heavy rain and flooding until 9:45 a.m. for Bristol County.

"At 8:41 a.m., Doppler radar tracked a thunderstorm with heavy rainfall over Cranston, moving northeast at 10 mph. Excessive rainfall rates may result in a brief period of minor street flooding," comments the weather service. "Minimal. Water on roads that flood easily."

Locations impacted by the alert include Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Coventry, Cumberland, North Providence, West Warwick, Johnston, North Kingstown, Attleboro, Smithfield, Lincoln, Central Falls, Barrington, Swansea, Seekonk, East Greenwich and Rehoboth.

The weather service adds, "Do not drive through flooded roads or underpasses."
