John Swinney has described his commitment to reducing the number of children living in poverty as a "national mission".
The First Minister addressed a 500-strong audience of local authorities, charities and third sector organisations in Glasgow today where he insisted his Government was "making progress" on the issue, which he has repeatedly stated is one of his top political priorities.
The SNP leader said child poverty levels in Scotland are now "lower than they were 30 years ago" but added there was "more that we have to do".
But Scottish Labour accused Swinney of being "all talk" on the issue and warned the Government had failed to tackle the "systemic causes of poverty" like housing and education.
