Celebrated Italian actress Claudia Cardinale has died at the age of 87, her agent told AFP .
Cardinale died in Nemours, near Paris, accompanied by her children.
“She leaves us the legacy of a free and inspired woman both as a woman and as an artiste,” her agent, Laurent Savry, said to AFP.
Over the course of her career, Cardinale starred in more than 100 movies, including some of the most acclaimed European films of the ‘60s and ‘70s, like “8½” and “The Leopard.”
She also starred in many iconic Hollywood films, such as the first installment of “The Pink Panther” franchise and the western “Once Upon a Time in the West.”
