BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Police arrested a man accused of stealing multiple items after burglarizing a car in Baton Rouge.
Officers responded to a car burglary in the 1700 block of Shawn Drive around 1:45 a.m. Sept. 17. The Baton Rouge Police Department said suspect Devarcius West, 24, was found in the 7000 block of Lasalle Avenue.
According to police, a K-9 was deployed to subdue West after he was given loud verbal commands to surrender. Detectives learned that a storage shed had been broken into during his attempt to avoid capture.
A stolen Bluetooth speaker, a wallet containing $700, a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm and a coin purse were recovered. Police said the gun had not been reported stolen.
