BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two Baton Rouge police officers who were placed on leave after a deadly shooting have returned to work, a police department spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.
According to the spokesperson, both officers involved in the deadly shooting of Anthony Pursley, 38, have been cleared to return to patrol.
On July 5, officers were called to the 5100 block of Washington Avenue about an "emotionally distressed individual, who was suspected to be under the influence of narcotics." Upon arrival, the two officers were met by a man armed with a sharp object.
The officers tried to subdue the man using a Taser, but were unsuccessful. Police said an officer fired their service weapon, striking Pursley. After life-saving techniques, Pursley was pronounced dead at the sc
