Former Vice President Kamala Harris praised Helena Moreno's bid for New Orleans mayor on Monday, calling the City Council vice president a rising "star" in national Democratic politics.

Harris, who has been close to Moreno since the pair met in New Orleans in 2019 , shouted her out in response to a question from MSNBC host Rachel Maddow about whether Harris would endorse Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayor's race.

Harris responded that she "supports the Democrat in the race." But, she added, “I hope that we don’t so over-index on New York City that we lose sight of the stars throughout our country."
