Alberta teachers will soon vote on a tentative new labour deal their union reached with the provincial government’s bargaining agency.
On Friday, the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) made an offer to the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association that led to the agreement, according to a government news release Wednesday.
It quotes Finance Minister Nate Horner who declined to get into details of the tentative deal, only describing it as being “strong on classroom investment.”
“If ratified, this deal will form the basis for labour stability in the province and will be a positive path forward for a successful school year for our kids,” he stated.
The statement cites the government’s plan to invest nearly $10 billion in the education system, build or renovate over 130 schools, and hire
