PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A major water line break in the 800 block of 8th Street in Port Arthur has been fixed, but a boil water notice remains in place, according to Port Arthur Councilman Willie Lewis Jr.

The City of Port Arthur confirmed the water main repair affected residents and businesses "from Highway 82 and Pure Atlantic Road, between Procter Street Extension and Highway 73" and estimated repairs will take about 10 to 12 hours.

A boil water notice was issued for all residents after the leak caused system pressure to drop below state-required levels throughout the entire city.

Jefferson County announced the Sub-Courthouse and other county offices in Port Arthur will close at 11 a.m. until the city can resolve the issue, according to Jefferson County Emergency Management.
