We’re in between two systems today as cloudy skies remain over New England.

The first wave brought around a quarter inch of rain to southern New England Wednesday morning.

Thursday, as a new upper level low emerges out of the Rockies, we’re expecting widespread downpours and rumbles of thunder. The threat for severe weather is a bit limited, as tornadoes are unlikely, but gusty winds and pockets of urban and street flooding are possible -- especially as leaves clog gutters and drainage.

Most of the rain arrives early Thursday around 3 a.m. and should fill in through the Commonwealth by the morning drive. The greatest threat for thunderstorms are likely across the South Coast around noon.
