CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) – Preserving history is no small task, but a dedicated team of Alexander County employees has just completed a monumental project that safeguards more than seven decades of local records.
Back in May, the county clerk’s office began digitizing birth records dating back to 1950. After four months of hard work, the project is finally complete and county officials say it would not have been possible without the dedication of three women: Tara Harris, Natalie Grace, and Harmonei Duncan.
“Tara supervised and assisted, while Natalie and Harmonei scanned and indexed several thousand birth certificates,” says Alexander County Clerk, Zachary Price. “They’ve helped preserve 75 years of Alexander County history.”
