GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A South American crocodile has been taken in by a Michigan zoo after it was recently found in a front yard in Bay County.
The Hampton Township Public Safety Department was called out to a home for a report of a wild alligator. The officers found what was determined to be a 3-foot-long South American crocodile relaxing under a crab apple tree.
“The croc was safely corralled and taken to its new home at the Birch Run Zoo,” police said.
Investigators do not know who the crocodile belonged to or how it made it to Michigan.
