KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An Independence man has been charged with DWI resulting in death after a June crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
Court documents filed Tuesday in Jackson County charged Jonathan M. Stone with felony DWI resulting in the death of another for his role in a June 4 crash near 39th and the Blue Ridge Cutoff.
Stone lost control of his Mercury and ran off the road while driving at a high rate of speed around 5:30 p.m. that day. A probable cause document said Stone struck a pedestrian that was walking or standing in the grassy area near the road.
The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and eventually died on July 7.
Several witnesses at the scene shared dash camera video with police and said the driver of the vehicle was operating erratically
