A London man is charged with smuggling and gun offences after police raided an east-end home last week as part of a weapons smuggling investigation.

A convoy of police vehicles, including a London police light-armoured vehicle, descended on a home at 115 Bow St., east of the intersection of Trafalgar Street and Clarke Road, at about 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Officers from the Canada Border Service Agency’s gun smuggling team searched the house, along with another home in Ottawa, as part of a gun smuggling investigation, an agency spokesperson said.

Zachary Edwards, 31, of London, is charged with two counts of importation of a prohibited firearm and a prohibited device and three counts of smuggling under the Customs Act, spokesperson Luke Reimer said.
