Greek restaurant chain Opa! Authentic Greek Cuisine filed for bankruptcy and has plans to liquidate the company’s remaining assets in California, according to a recent filing.

Listing a principal address in Santa Clara, California, Opa! Signature Foods filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Friday, Sept. 19, documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California say.

Listed as co-debtors are OPA Management Group, the company's Chief Executive Officer, Molly Adams, and her husband, Marcus Adams, according to the court documents obtained by USA TODAY.

In the documents, OPA Signature Foods listed that it has one to 49 creditors in total, and $100,000 to $500,000 in assets. The company has between $100,000 and $500,000 in liabilities, the documents continued.

Adams wrote in the bankruptcy documents that she met with legal and financial advisors and made the decision to file for bankruptcy and liquidate company assets.

"It is desirable and in the best interests of the company, its creditors, and other parties in interest that a petition be filed by the company seeking relief under the provisions of Chapter 7 of Title 11 of the United States Code," Adams wrote.

Opa! Authentic Greek Cuisine previously had at least six locations in California cities, including Campbell, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara and Walnut Creek, as well as San Jose, according to social media posts, the company’s former website, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
