A second suspect is in custody in the kidnapping of two men during a Montgomery robbery who were stripped and beaten.

John Ladell “Swiper” Brown Jr., 19, is charged with two counts each of first-degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping, police announced on Wednesday.

He was taken into custody Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Marquice Leon “Choppa” Barnett, 23, was arrested Monday on the same charges.

The ordeal began at 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 25 at Studio Lodge on Eastern Boulevard.

Authorities say Brown confronted the two men at the motel, brandished a rifle, fired rounds and robbed the victims of their property. The suspect then forced them into a vehicle.

At that point, records state, Barnett got into the driver’s seat armed with a gun and hit one
