JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The family of a 17-year-old, who was killed during a shooting in Jackson, want answers about the case.

Capitol police said the homicide occurred in the area of Sunnyvale Drive and Sandalwood Place just before 9:30 p.m. on September 19, 2025.

Family members said Salem Ghasan Omar Humaid, of Canton, was playing soccer with a cousin when they were approached by suspects who attempted to rob them. The young men tried to flee, but the family said Humaid was shot twice.

The family told WJTV 12 News that they have received little information from Capitol police about the investigation.
