Local leaders in the South Bay decried the tactics of Immigration and Customs Enforcement after plainclothes agents detained a man Tuesday morning at a nonprofit in San Jose.
The ICE enforcement action happened at about 8:30 a.m. at ConXión to Community, which helps day laborers. It wasn't immediately known if the agent had a warrant or if the man was wanted for any crime.
ConXión to Community Director Rose Amador was there when it happened. She said the agent was not wearing a mask and flashed an ID on his phone.
"A person in regular street clothes that came and said he had a warrant for this guy's arrest because he had fled," Amador said.
Video footage showed several agents walking the man to a waiting unmarked van.
