PLYMOUTH COUNTY, Iowa -- The Animal Rescue League of Iowa assisted in removing more than 110 dogs from a Plymouth County home on Tuesday.

The ARL of Iowa received an urgent call from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office claiming more than 100 dogs were living in toxic conditions at a home. The ARL team arrived on scene and removed 111 dogs and puppies from the property.

The ARL of Iowa says a majority of the dogs in the home were living in areas covered in urine and feces. Another 40 dogs were reportedly shut in a small shed and living in similar conditions. Tests taken on scene revealed the ammonia levels were dangerously high, the ARL says.
