A Chicago man was sentenced to 45 years Wednesday after admitting a role in a January 2023 Gary gas station slaying.

Melvion “Fatboy” Delphie, 23, pleaded guilty to murder in July. The U.S. Marshals arrested him in Chicago in December 2023.

Gary Police responded at 8 p.m. Jan. 28, 2023 drug robbery inside One Stop convenience store, 719 W. 45th Avenue.

Security footage appeared to show Alexander “Taz” Hudson, 26, selling marijuana to Delphie. Hudson was found shot in the chest, lying on his back inside.

They appear to chat and briefly fist-bump before Hudson lets him smell the drugs. Delphie pays him cash, as Hudson counts the money and hands him a marijuana baggie. Co-defendant Larry Saunders and Delphie appear to go in and out of the store various times.
