PHOENIX – A Phoenix father is facing multiple felony charges after his 5-year-old daughter was killed by her brother in an accidental shooting earlier this year, authorities announced Wednesday.

A Maricopa County grand jury indicted 33-year-old Irvin Eduardo Ramos-Jimenez on one count of child abuse last month, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Earlier, he was charged with prohibited weapon possession because he couldn’t legally own a gun after a previous felony conviction. His trial is scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Why is Phoenix father facing charges over girl’s death?

Prosecutors say Ramos-Jimenez was storing an AR-style rifle in his son’s bedroom prior to the accidental shooting.
