Therapy Dogs United visited the Erie Department of Veterans Affairs today to provide support and companionship to local veterans.

The visit is part of an ongoing partnership between Erie County Department of Veterans Services and Therapy Dogs United, aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of veterans through interactions with therapy dogs.

"A lot of veterans have been put in different situations in which their mental health has been compromised, for whatever reason. I feel like therapy dogs are one of those ways where they can be in an environment where they are not being judged; they're actually being helped, it's calming, it's soothing," said Suzanne Mitkowski, Claims Administrator and Administrator Secretary for Erie County Veterans Services.
